Accountable neighbours, honest local debate

Africa.social works because people are who they say they are and live where they say they live.

Real names only

Everyone posts under the name they are known by in everyday life. Pseudonyms, handles, initials-only names and impersonation are not allowed. Your name appears on your reports, questions and answers so neighbours know who is speaking.

Verified residency, strictly applied

Before you can post, confirm you are in your Place with two independent signals: a device location check inside the neighbourhood and either a document showing your address or confirmation from an already-verified neighbour. Verification is reviewed by a person and is refused when the signals do not agree.

Civic and political discussion is welcome

Local government, services, budgets, policing, elections and candidates may all be discussed and criticised. Keep it about issues and public conduct: no harassment, no ethnic or religious incitement, no false claims about voting, and no unlabelled campaign material.

Never a substitute for emergency services

Africa.social does not dispatch help. In an emergency contact the relevant emergency service first, then share what is useful to neighbours.
